Dave Ahl is a producer, engineer, keyboardist, and composer with his own studio in Brooklyn, NY. Ahl's latest project is the debut album by Vieux Farka Toure, son of the late master Ali Farka Toure. Ahl mixed the entire album, as well as recording, arranging, and playing keyboards. The self-titled debut by Vieux Farka Toure features performances by Grammy Winners Toumani Diabate and the last work of Ali Farka Toure. The album hit #1 on the CMJ World Music Charts.
A graduate of Wesleyan University, Ahl is on the board of directors at Modiba Productions, a music company dedicated to African causes. Modiba's first release, ASAP: the Afrobeat Sudan Aid Project, hit #1 on the iTunes World Music charts and raised $130k for a local charity in Darfur.
Ahl currently working with pop sensation Bernie Journey, vocalist Tiffany Challe, MC Brikmason, singer/songwriter Ken Feldman, and producers Moriddum and Joao Mutante. Ahl is band director and keyboardist in Zozo Afrobeat, a 13-piece afrobeat band.
Ahl is hard at work on his next album, "Instrumentahl."
