Bajah + Dry Yai Crew on Afropop Worldwide: "Sierra Leone: Celebration, War and Healing" (streaming NPR radio program)

From the streets of Freetown, Sierra Leone's superstar recording artists Bajah + Dry Yai Crew -- best known in the U.S. for their musical contribution to acclaimed film Blood Diamond starring Leonardo DiCaprio -- first landed in New York City in 2007 to bring international attention to their country's elections that summer, urging non-violence with the free international release of their widely-lauded single, "Ease Di Tension."

Dry Yai are currently recording their international debut supported by some of today’s hottest hiphop producers and MCs, with the album being headed up by Fyre Dept -- the dynamic production duo of Eric Krasno (of Soulive fame) and Adam Deitch (of Wyclef Jean and John Scofield fame), who have produced tracks for 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, GZA, Justin Timberlake and Talib Kweli among others.

Dry Yai have been welcomed as part of The Roots/Okayplayer hiphop community, and recently performed as invited guests at the annual Roots Picnic weekend in Philadelphia. Appearing along aside hip-hop greats Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson and Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter of The Roots, Bajah + the Dry Yai crew rocked the Philly hiphop scene. They’ve also wowed crowds at some of New York’s most prestigious venues, including B.B. Kings’, Joe’s Pub and Prospect Park’s Celebrate Brooklyn Bandshell.
